The UTSA Music Department’s Institute of Music Research is proud to present Dr. David Huron speaking on the topic of physiological responses to music in a presentation entitled, “On the Musically Sublime”. While most music listening is enjoyable, sometimes the experience of listening to music evokes transcendent feelings: goosebumps, tears to your eyes, the feeling of being “choked up,” or “taking your breath away.” This lecture describes a comprehensive theory that aims to account for such peculiar physiological responses.
