DESCRIPTION:Hello and welcome back! For Spring 2021\, Academic Innovation is providing professional development opportunities by offering Quality Matters workshops/Courses. \nQuality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered\, peer-review process designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. UTSA became a Full Subscribing member of Quality Matters in October 2019 and began implementation in January 2020. \nNote that all QM professional development courses include necessary materials. Access to the QM Rubric is included in the registration fee for those courses/workshops where it is required. \n\n\n\nDesigning Your Online Workshop (DYOC): Provides a framework to design an online course. (Two weeks\, 10-15 hours per week). February 4\, 2021 – February 18\, 2021.\n\nComplete the Faculty Interest Form below by February 2nd to join this workshop!\n\nFaculty Interest Form

(Note that the emphasis will not be on education components for NSF CAREER proposals\, which are covered in an on-demand NSF CAREER webinar also available to UTSA faculty. For further information\, contact ors@utsa.edu).   \nRegister for this eventPresented By:Lucy DeckardAcademic Research Funding Strategies\, LLCConsultant Lucy Deckard established Academic Research Funding Strategies\, LLC in 2010. She has helped to develop successful proposals to NSF\, NIH\, the Department of Education\, the Department of Defense\, and other agencies and foundations\, including proposals for large institutional and center-level grants. \nPreviously\, she worked in research development at Texas A&M University for 8 years\, most recently serving as Associate Director of the university’s Office of Proposal Development. \nIn addition\, she directed the university’s New Faculty Initiative\, helping new faculty to jump start their research by helping them to identify funding opportunities\, develop a strategy for pursuing funding\, understand funding agencies\, and learn how to write competitive proposals. \nShe also worked with faculty in Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions and Minority Serving Institutions across the Texas A&M System. \nBefore joining Texas A&M\, she worked as a research engineer in industry for 16 years\, obtaining funding from DoD\, DARPA and the Department of Energy. \nYou can find more information at her LinkedIn page. \nContact: LDeckard@academicresearchgrants.com
