What would you share if it were your final lecture? Join the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society’s Last Lecture Series featuring John Frederick, professor of chemistry and former provost, presenting “Change and Changing Perspectives.” Celebrate his retirement with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by the lecture at 6 p.m. in the Main Building.

Phi Kappa Phi’ annual Last Lecture is a cherished tradition where one exceptional faculty member shares the life lessons and insights they would offer if it were their final opportunity to speak to students.

John Frederick joined the university in February 2008 as provost and vice president for academic affairs, serving in that position until 2016. Additionally, he has served as interim vice president for research (2012–2013), as chair of the Department of Mathematics (2018–2019), and as interim dean of the College of Sciences (2024-2025).

Co-sponsored by the Honors College and the College of Sciences.
