Join us for an interactive workshop to engage UTSA faculty on ableism in higher education and how design choices can inadvertently perpetuate microaggressions and inequities in the classroom. We will discuss access by looking at accommodations as well as universal design and end with a reflection on changes we have made to our teaching and working in response to the pandemic and how the pandemic has provided us a case study in ableism and universal design. Lunch is provided

By attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify systemic ableism as it relates to higher education
  • Identify how course design choices can perpetuate microaggressions related to disability in the classroom
  • Compare and contrast the use of accommodations verses the implementation of Universal Design for Learning principles.

Creating an effective learning environment for all is important to us. To request an accommodation, please email DigitalAccessibility@utsa.edu one week prior to your scheduled training.
