Explore the realm of digital accessibility in the faculty professional development session titled ‘Beyond the Mouse: Screen Readers & Other Computer Navigation Systems.’ This session is designed to deepen participants’ comprehension of screen readers and alternative computer navigation tools. Educators will learn about the common uses of screen readers, gaining practical insights into navigating applications, documents, and websites. Additionally, participants will investigate the significance of focus indicators, understanding their role in accessibility and how they can be utilized to assess webpage navigability. The session provides faculty with essential knowledge and skills to create a more welcoming digital learning environment for all.
By attending this course, participants will be able to:

• describe the basics of navigating applications, documents, and websites using screen readers.
• describe the function of focus indicators, their role in accessibility, and how they can be used to assess the navigability of a webpage.
