Teaching digitally is often counterintuitive. Your students will swipe all day on TikTok, but won’t scroll down. They’ll post on Reddit but treat Discussion Boards like an alien. You’ll get dozens of emails about the little things but students will be too scared to email about the big things. Creating a sense of availability (without doing more work!) is your greatest asset in fostering an academic community within your course.
