This introductory course will prepare faculty for a meaningful research career, to include pointers about positioning yourself for competitiveness (i.e. context and environment of your research), defining your long-term research and education agendas, and understanding funders’ perspectives. It will also include a comprehensive approach to proposal development, and tips for managing time and expectations for publication and grant writing.
By attending this course, you will:
1) Understand the steps and strategies for positioning yourself for research competitiveness
2) Understand what “success” is and how to achieve it
3) Be given tools for defining your long-term research and education agendas
4) Gain an understanding of funders’ perspectives
5) Learn to manage your time writing effective proposals
