Active learning, when properly incorporated into a course, improves students’ performance while raising their level of interest and engagement. In this talk, Dr. Shay Fuchs (Department of Mathematics at University of Toronto Mississauga) will explain what he means by ‘active learning’ and describe methods of successfully implementing this pedagogy into both large and small mathematics classes. Using examples from his own courses, he will demonstrate different approaches for implementing student-centered pedagogy that may be applicable in any math course.
