Microcredentials provide faculty with an opportunity to help students develop and showcase workforce-relevant skills while enhancing course learning experiences. This three-session institute, with sessions beginning the week of July 6 and continuing during the weeks of July 13 and July 20, will guide participants through the process of identifying, evaluating, and implementing microcredentials within their courses, with specific dates and times finalized based on participant availability. Faculty will explore strategies for aligning credentials with course outcomes, motivating student participation, and helping students communicate acquired competencies to employers and professional audiences.
Through hands-on activities and faculty-led discussions, participants will develop a practical implementation plan for integrating a microcredential into a Fall 2026 course. The institute will also provide opportunities to explore available credential options, learn how to embed microcredentials into Canvas, and connect credentialing initiatives to career readiness and workforce preparation.
***The course is limited to 50 seats, with 20 seats reserved for benefits-eligible faculty who have a teaching appointment in Fall 2026 and are eligible to receive a one-time $500 incentive upon completion of all institute requirements. Previous participants, staff and Instructors with Assistantship titles are not eligible for the incentive but are welcome to audit the course.***
