Join this inaugural faculty panel to explore how to transform learning by engaging undergraduate and graduate students in a more interactive, creative, and collaborative environment in all course modalities. Through gamification, learners are challenged to work more toward mastery than grade-based academic achievement. This can lead to a more meaningful and deeper understanding of course content and promote students to best engage with the course and the learning community (see flyer).
Panelists:
• Lorenzo Brancaleon, Professor, Physics – COS
• Nancy Hall, Associate Professor Practice, Writing Core Program – UC
• Cynthia Roberts, Assistant Professor of Practice, Mathematics – COS
• Elyse Ramirez, Lead Learning Experience Designer – TLDT Academic Innovation
• Claudia Arcolin, Exec Dr Teaching Learning Exprns – TLDT Academic Innovation
Moderator:
Alexia Cormier, Instructional Designer – TLDT Academic Innovation
The panel will be offered in a hyflex modality, and participants can choose whether to join the session on campus or online. Bring your own device to practice with some gamification strategies at the end of the panel. Faculty will also be invited to have a tour of the new Academic Innovation Center.
Through this panel, faculty will also be enrolled in a fully online course focused on gamification strategies offered both in Blackboard Learn and Canvas.
