“Unlocking Potential: UDL in Assessment Design” is a faculty professional development session designed to empower participants with a deep understanding of Universal Design principles in the context of assessment strategies. Throughout the session, participants will gain insight into the application of Universal Design principles, specifically focusing on creating assessments that are accessible and equitable for all learners. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with practical techniques for incorporating Universal Design into their assessment design, enabling them to identify and address potential barriers for diverse learners. The goal is for educators to actively revise their assessment practices, fostering a more supportive learning environment based on Universal Design principles.
By attending this course, participants will be able to:
• understand Universal Design principles as they relate to assessment strategies.
• recognize the principles of Universal Design and their application in creating assessments that are accessible and equitable for all learners.
• describe practical techniques for applying Universal Design principles to the design of assessments.
• revise their current assessment practices, identify potential barriers to diverse learners, and implement changes based on Universal Design principles.
